About Eiganes og Våland
This borough is centrally located in Stavanger, and is home to several historical highlights. Eiganes og Våland are popular residential areas and has several green areas great for outside activities. Hiking is a popular activity for locals, the hike around the lake ‘Mosvatnet’ is a 3 kilometer long and takes the hikers through the Våland Forest. East in Eiganes og Våland, the famous tower ‘Vålandstårnet’ is located. The history of the tower dates back to the 1800s, when the tower was built because of the war between Denmark, Norway and England. The tower is 83 meter tall and offers visitors a stunning view of Stavanger city. For the history interested, visit Stavanger Cathedral, Norway’s oldest cathedral and the seat of the Bishop of Stavanger.
Eiganes og Våland Geography
This borough is located west of the city center, north of the lake ‘Mostvatnet’, west of the lake ‘Stokkavatnet’ and south of the district Tasta. Eiganes og Våland is a combined district of two areas and also consist of the boroughs ‘Kampen’ and ‘Stokka’. The area is home to a population of approximately 23,700 people on a 7 square kilometer geographical area. ‘Vålandshaugen’ with 84 meters above sea level is the areas highest point.
