About Tasta
Tasta is an area with many green areas, offering a perfect mix of closeness to nature and only a short distance to central Stavanger. The area is particularly popular amongst young families because of the many parks, sports facilities, schools and family friendly spots. Tasta offers a tour of the area, the ‘Tastaveden walk’, a 8.3 kilometer path through the woods and up to the top of Tastaveden with 92 meters above sea level. Here you can enjoy the panoramic view of the city’s islands. Locals like to enjoy a lunch or some sports activities along the natural walk of Tasta. For the historically interested, visit ‘Hertevighuset’ where the famous 1800s Norwegian painter Lars Hertervig lived for many years of his life.
Tasta Geography
This northern part of Stavanger is split between the mainland along Byfjorden, and the eastern part of the island of Åmøy. Tasta is home to about 15,400 people spread over an area of 10.87 square kilometers. The neighbourhoods of Tasta does not exactly correspond to the borough borders, however the area roughly consists of the areas Indre Tasta and Ytre Tasta. Located on the north east close to Byfjorden and Bangavågen, the climate is ocenaic.
