About Hinna
This area has an important role of Stavanger history, specifically related to the industrial era of the city. Today, Hinna has developed the ‘Hinna Park’ area in the same spot as the industrial parts, to create a modern and vibrant district. Hinna Park has monuments to celebrate the history of the area, modern office buildings, restaurants and creative spaces. Hinna’s location close to the ocean makes the opportunities for outside activities many. The ‘Valuen’ Badestrand is a popular beach for locals to enjoy a swim, or play some sports such as volleyball at the close by court. From the beach it is possible to take a tour out to the small island ‘Taraldsholmen’, offering a beautiful natural landscape.
Hinna Geography
This borough makes up the southernmost part of Stavanger, and borders the city Sandnes. Hinna is home to approximately 22,600 people and consists of the neighbourhoods Jåtten, Gausel, Godeset, Forus and southern Vaulen. Hinna has both residential areas and industrial areas, especially relating to the Norwegian oil industry.
